Description

We are hiring a Project Engineer to provide a support role for environmental investigation, site investigation, regulatory interpretation, permitting, remedial design, field services, and construction for a wide variety of technically challenging projects. This position will require strong analytical, problem solving, and technical writing skills. Location: Mundelein, IL

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, EIT required, PE desired
  • 5-10 years related experience
  • Site Investigation and Remediation experience
  • Conceptual design of remediation systems experience
  • Contaminated soil and groundwater experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Able to analyze, interpret and present data and meet time sensitive deadlines
  • Able to carry out multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software particularly Excel
  • Effective technical writing skills to assist with report writing, proposal preparation, and engineering/construction cost estimates.
  • Effective verbal communication skills with colleagues, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Effective organizational skills to maintain deliverables, analytical results, and field notes in project files.
  • Demonstrate understanding and awareness of health and safety practices
  • Able to work effectively in group settings.  

Desired, but not mandatory, qualifications include:  

  • PE certification
  • Knowledge of Federal and State regulatory processes and reporting  
  • Knowledge in the use of CAD programs including Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities:  

  • Work independently within a project team
  • Develop site investigations in accordance with all Federal or State environmental programs to address all exposure pathways of concern.
  • Research and participate in the evaluation of remedial solutions.
  • Perform data evaluation to meet program-specific goals.
  • Perform various engineering related calculations and analyses of information in the application of the basic design criteria necessary to complete assigned projects.
  • Coordinate the preparation of data tabulation/evaluation and reports. Assist in coordination of report production and development of engineering designs and specifications. 
  • Perform quality control (QC) checks.
  • Perform field assignments including resident engineering, construction observation, site inspections, and conducting field assessment of properties.
  • Prepare daily QC reports, maintain field notes and photo documentation, as required.
  • This position is a field and office position
