Engineering Associate

Weston is seeking an Engineering Associate to provide support for civil and environmental engineering projects including storm water and flood control system design, grading and drainage design, wastewater collection system infrastructure evaluation, rehabilitation, and design; and water distribution system evaluation and design

Location: Albuquerque, NM

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • S. or M.S. degree in engineering with 4- 6 years of experience.
  • New Mexico P.E. certification is preferable, or must be able to obtain New Mexico P.E. certification within 6 months.
  • Excellent writing/verbal communication skills for interaction with multi-disciplinary staff, clients and regulatory agencies across our regional organization.
  • Excellent organization and operations planning skills.
  • Self-starter, detail oriented, and able to produce top quality deliverables and support project development programs with existing and targeted clients.
  • Proficient using typical business software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Projects, Adobe, etc.).
  • AutoCAD/GIS experience is desired and preferred. 
  • This position may require an estimated 10% travel/field work for site inspections and meetings with client site representative and construction contractors.


  • Prepare project scopes of work and budget estimates
  • Coordinate with team members including surveying, geotechnical, structural engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering sub-consultants
  • Coordinate with internal QA/QC reviewers, financial analysts, and administrative assistants across our regional organization.
  • Technical report writing
  • Analysis of existing utility infrastructure including development of Preliminary Engineering Reports (PERs)
  • Data management/tabulation and analysis
  • Field investigations/site reconnaissance including environmental and storm water sampling
  • Project permitting and coordination with regulatory agencies
  • Data collection
  • Utility coordination
  • Erosion/sedimentation control
  • Engineering cost estimating and analysis
  • Hydrologic and storm water analysis
  • Wastewater flow and hydraulics analysis
  • Engineering design calculations
  • Engineering specification review and preparation of contract documents for construction
  • Bid and award services
  • Construction phase engineering services.
