Project Engineer - Civil Design

WESTON is seeking a Project Engineer to manage and provide design services for engineering design projects primarily being executed out of the West Chester, PA or Edison, NJ offices involving both clean construction and environmental remediation.  The Project Engineer will also have duties as a front-line client-focused leader who works directly with stakeholders to understand project technical needs and manages teams to deliver services to meet those requirements.  The project engineer is responsible for networking with internal sales and management, as well as clients, to identify and define projects, developing and negotiating proposals, building teams of technical staff and sub-consultants to execute work, maintaining quality and risk management processes to keep work on track, and delivering according to scope, schedule, and budget.  Candidates must have demonstrated Project Engineering experience with industrial and state clients and with some experience leading or managing water/wastewater or linear projects to be considered.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Professional Engineers (P.E.) license required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, geotechnical, or environmental engineering.
  • This is a leadership position and a minimum Five(5) years’ of experience in the field of engineering design will be considered for strong candidates demonstrating performance on complex projects involving remediation or stormwater management or W/WW design.
  • Project management experience, including project financial management responsibility is a plus.
  • Strong entrepreneurial interest to engage clients to identify and win new projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability convey technical presentations.
  • Ability to recognize strengths in junior and senior staff to recruit, build, mentor, and foster a team as an emerging leader.


  • Building client engagement with existing management and sales force support resulting in continually expanding client trust relationships.
  • Effective proposal development resulting in the award of new work with clients.
  • Highly-competent technical leadership resulting in successful project delivery.
  • Engineering project management leading teams to meet scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • Ability to identify scope variances to help client and internal management and sales teams to identify change.
  • Staff engagement through recruiting and mentorship to build and strengthen the team.
  • Diligent and timely compliance with and implementation of company business practices including adherence with the Engineering Design Quality Management Manual.
  • Regular participation in local professional societies and associations for networking.
  • Maintenance of a Professional Engineer license in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or New York for employment start is required with ability to acquire reciprocity in other states as situation arises.
