Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Analyze title reports and title commitments to identify curative issues.
  • Prepare reports and memorandums as necessary to explain curative requirements and recommendations.
  • Prepare spreadsheets for tracking progress.
  • Examines oil and gas leasehold interests.  
  • Perform heirship research on deceased owners, preparing reports, affidavits, and supporting documentation as needed.
  • Conducts outreach to interest owners and other stakeholders to satisfy curative requirements.
  • Accurately prepare curative documents.
  • Provide quality research and reports based on client needs and criteria.
  • Uphold Western Land Services’ Core values in all aspects of work.
  • Other related duties as assigned. 

Required Skills & Abilities: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; some college is a plus.
  • 2 years' experience working in land or title is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps.
  • Ability to interpret complex documents to obtain and understand legal property descriptions.
  • Basic familiarity with standard Microsoft Office Software including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to create and use spreadsheets including multiple worksheets and intermediate functions such as totaling columns, changing formats, and entering/using basic formulas.
  • Ability to type using a computer keyboard to enter information rapidly, accurately, and proficiently.
  • Some positions may require lengthy travel and overnight commitments in order to complete projects.
  • Proven to follow complex chains of title in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Reviews title and heirship work for accuracy
  • May involve client interaction.
  • Read and write in English.
  • Communicate verbally with staff members and/or customers.
  • Give and/or follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Perform mathematical calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Retrieve, read, and interpret information from technical sources.
