As part of the Corporate IT team, the Applications Engineer will combine technical integration experience, analytical ability, mentorship of other software engineers, sound coding skills, and the ability to develop and implement solutions which coordinate applications across the Weld North Ed organization. They evaluate existing applications or systems to determine integration requirements and ensure that the final solutions meet organizational needs. This will include selecting the integration approach and applying sound technical management and development principles like SOLID and Object-Oriented Design throughout the development lifecycle to produce high-quality solutions.

A Day in the Life as a Applications Engineer

-          Integrate diverse systems, networks, and servers to achieve overall goals

-          Recognized leader within one or more domains; working knowledge of all enterprise domains

-          Help assess future API management tools, vetting capabilities against requirements, and performing validation activities as required

-          Coordinate effectively with internal stakeholders by creating long-term and short-term project targets, effectively balancing competing initiatives, properly allocating relevant resources, and serving as primary technical contact for project communications

-          Document and create visual representations of systems and their inputs and outputs

-          Identify gaps in available integration services and work on remediation strategies to ensure stability as the underlying platform technologies continue to evolve

-          Developing test platforms and effective test strategies

-          Performs code reviews for the entire team; ensures team’s code for each sprint is well organized and readable

-          Mastery of estimation, engaging with business stakeholders to prioritize timely delivery of epics and initiatives

-          Partner with DevOps to articulate CI/CD requirements and own the team deployment process

-          Other duties as required


-          Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

-          8+ years’ experience as a software engineer using C#, .NET Core, and/or building RESTful services

-          Experience developing enterprise applications and interfacing with large, complex applications

-          Ability to create CI/CD requirements and own the team deployment process

-          Hands on experience in building scalable systems using containers/serverless in one or more of the cloud providers – AWS, Azure

-          2+ years’ experience in a lead capacity, leading small team(s) of engineers

-          Experience developing apps for vendors like Slack, Zendesk, O365, Box, etc., or working directly with their APIs.

-          Familiarity with iPaaS systems like Boomi or Mulesoft is a plus
