Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee general accounting procedures by controlling and verifying a wide range of financial transactions.  Senior accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures.  The senior accountant will also be called upon to assist in various initiatives including continuous improvement opportunities as well as post-acquisition integration support. 

Essential Functions

  • General ledger account reconciliations of assigned accounts.
  • Analyzes records of journal entries and/or cash transactions to determine accuracy and completeness of entries.
  • Organizes and maintains journal entry and supporting documentation ensuring that all entries are adequately supported and organized / accessible facilitating efficient review.
  • Assist in the development, modification, documentation and implementation of accounting system and process changes.
  • Seeks ways to continually improve accounting and organizational processes and procedures to gain efficiency and provide value to internal and external customers.
  • Identifies gaps in process documentation while also addressing by authoring SOPs and process flow maps.
  • Review current application of GAAP in various transactions with regard to concepts such as revenue recognition, lease accounting, and long-lived asset accounting to ensure proper treatment is applied.
  • Assists in maintaining and monitoring a sound internal control environment and participates in the physical inventory count and/or review process as needed.
  • Assist in the annual independent audit process by providing information as requested and through various accounting analyses as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university
  • Five plus years’ related experience and/or training (mix of public and private experience is preferred)
  • Highly analytical 

Computer Skills

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), SAP preferred, but experience with other ERPs acceptable. 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) candidate preferred 

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, markups, interest, commissions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to identify cause-effect relationships and interrelated business activities. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
