Summary

The Primary role for a Field Service Fleet Technician will be to support the Fleet Team in the maintenance, installations and inspection of all Fleet owned, rented and leased assets. This role will be Field Service only and will require a candidate to be on site at both company and customer facilities.

Weisiger’s Fleet currently consist of a variety of late model vehicles ranging from SUVs to Class 8 Heavy Haul trucks and trailers. This current role will consist of maintaining but not limited to, repairing vehicles >10,000lbs GVW. The candidate will be responsible for all maintenance procedures, brake repairs, telematics installations, general repairs such as A/C diagnosing and repairing, CEL, emissions, drivability complaints, DOT inspections, de-branding and any other maintenance/repairs needed to keep our Fleet up and running.

It will be the responsibility of the candidate to maintain a clean appearance both in person and equipment, follow all company safety policies, have a positive attitude, and keep up to date on current fleet trends. The individual will need to have basic customer skills, time management, and ability to write and input work orders into appropriate systems.

Essential Functions

  • Promptly, at start of shift, review work schedule, check equipment and supplies required to perform the work scheduled, and prepare for operations.
  • Order or obtain necessary parts from local suppliers and OEM’s.
  • Perform PM Maintenance and Safety checks on all Fleet owned, leased and rented vehicles, notify supervisor immediately of any safety issues.
  • Perform annual DOT inspections on all Fleet Equipment.
  • Install, replace, repair engine, truck equipment or components in a timely manner and according to industry standards.
  • Diagnose and repair all A/C systems on vehicles within the Fleet.
  • Meet productivity metrics based on company standard jobs and criteria.
  • Follow all company and customer safety policies and guidelines.
  • Install and repair telematics devices.
  • Maintain and input repair data into company systems.
  • Test the part or equipment and perform quality check after work is complete.
  • Pressure wash parts and equipment when necessary.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • At end of shift, secure all equipment and machinery, and complete all required paperwork.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Must have earned a High School Diploma, or a GED. Mechanical technology certificate preferred.
  • Must read, write, communicate in English as it relates to this job and safety regulations.
  • Must be able to use, or learn to use, the equipment and tools used to perform this job.
  • Must be able to perform all job functions safely.
  • Must meet the company performance standards for the job.
  • Must agree to wear all proper PPE and company supplied uniforms.
  • Must have 5 – 10 years of experience in On-highway truck repairs and maintenance.
  • Must have a clean motor vehicle record.
  • Must have a class B CDL.
  • Must be able to complete yearly training provided by the company, safety and mechanical classes both on-site and off-site.
  • Must be able to travel with possibility of over night stays.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, depending on site location, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment. The employee may occasionally be exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in some work environments is occasionally loud.
