Summary

The CI Technology Specialist is a growth-oriented career development role designed to build skills and product knowledge for future leaders in construction technology, digital solutions, and customer-facing sales. This position provides hands-on experience supporting customers and internal teams in adopting construction technology solutions that improve jobsite safety, productivity, and equipment performance.

The CI Technology Specialist works closely with Fleet Performance, Technology Sales (SITECH), Rental, Service, and Marketing teams to gain broad exposure to dealership operations, customer engagement, and Caterpillar® digital solutions, Trimble product portfolio and services. Through real-world customer interactions, structured training, and mentorship, individuals in this role build the foundation needed to progress into advanced roles in construction technology, machine sales, rental, or dealer operations.

Essential Functions

Customer & Dealer Engagement (Skill?Building Focus)

  • Support technology sales and fleet operations teams during customer meetings, transactions, demonstrations, and dealership events.
  • Assist customers in adopting digital solutions related to fleet management, productivity, safety, and equipment utilization.
  • Participate in customer onboarding and education activities, building confidence in customer communication and problem-solving.
  • Gain exposure to real jobsite challenges and learn how machine control and jobsite technology support customer outcomes.

Business Development & Sales Exposure

  • Maintain professional communication and follow?up with customers and internal stakeholders to support relationship development.
  • Assist in preparing customer-facing materials for presentations, demonstrations, and technology training.
  • Document customer needs and feedback to support follow-up opportunities and sales development efforts.
  • Learn foundational sales concepts, including opportunity identification, value-based conversations, and follow-through.
  • Manage and measure sales initiatives, KPI programs, and dealer metrics

Technology Knowledge & Expertise Development

  • Develop a strong foundational understanding of Fleet management and Jobsite technologies, including 3D Machine control, Jobsite GPS infrastructure, fleet utilization, inspections, condition monitoring, safety, and productivity tools.
  • Develop a strong foundational understanding of Caterpillar® digital and connectivity solutions and Trimble construction technology portfolio
  • Learn to communicate the business value of technology solutions in clear, customer-friendly terms.
  • Support customer onboarding and training efforts while progressively taking on more responsibility as knowledge grows.

Cross-Functional Exposure & Collaboration

  • Work closely with sales, marketing, rental, service, and construction technology teams to understand the full customer lifecycle.
  • Participate in dealership events such as customer demos, open houses, and training sessions to expand professional visibility.
  • Share customer insights and engagement feedback with internal teams to support continuous improvement and learning.
  • Learn day-to-day dealership operations and gain hands-on experience in administrative duties

Professional Growth & Career Development

  • Participate in structured training programs focused on technology and machine technology products, customer engagement, sales fundamentals, and construction technology trends.
  • Develop core professional skills, including communication, presentation, organization, and relationship management.
  • Gain exposure to multiple career paths within construction technology, machine sales, rental operations, and customer success roles.
  • Learn dealership administrative and operational processes to build a well-rounded understanding of the business.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Sales, Marketing, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 0–2 years of experience in customer service, sales support, construction, or technology-related roles.
  • Strong interest in career growth within customer-facing, technology-enabled, or sales-oriented roles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a willingness to learn through hands-on experience.
  • Self?motivated, organized, and eager to develop professionally in a team-based environment.
