PERFORMANCE – Setting New Standards. . .

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for the development and administration of associate benefit program and associate advocacy. The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department for the regions assigned by administering benefits, leaves, and enforcing company policies and practices.

       Associate Benefits

  • Administer various associate benefits programs, such as group health, health savings accounts, dental and vision, life insurance, 401(k), and wellness benefits.
  • Manage daily benefits processing for medical insurance. Handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, and death claims.
  • Manage and process paperwork for the 401k plan including rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, and hardships. 
  • Verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims and costs. Resolve administrative problems with the carrier representatives.
  • Create and distribute materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment and summary plan descriptions. Provide support to group benefits associates, home office associates and the field staff.
  • Administers the education reimbursement program.
  • Manage Canada Registered Pension Plan through processing of enrollments, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, and death claims for Canada Associates.

       Leaves and ADA

  • Manages the FMLA and provincial leaves administration process from the employee’s initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use.
  • Maintains reasonable communication with associates on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work; relays communication between associates and their managers during leave within reason.
  • Acts as point person for employee and management inquiries about leaves of absence, and workplace accommodations, conferring with the Human Resources Manager as needed.
  • Works with individuals to determine reasonable accommodations needed for professional success; connects individuals to and/or provides direct resources and services.

       Regional HR

  • Responsible for auditing and compliance of all tasks for regions processed by HR assistants each pay period for compliance.
  • Recommends revisions to company policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the HR Manager.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs.
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Medicare and Social Security requirements.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience…

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in human resource management or related field or equivalent combination of education, training and experience required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Knowledge of federal and state FMLA, ADAAA, and pregnancy leave requirements. 
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Completion of specialized certification or training on FMLA/leave administration a plus.
