Reports to: Vice President of Accounting
Salary: $130,000 - $160,000 depending on experience
Position Summary:

Core responsibilities of controller will include; assist VP of Accounting in overseeing company financials for accuracy and completeness, lead property accountants and corporate staff in setting up and maintaining accounting policy and procedures, monitoring corporate cash flows, lead audit and tax compliance, oversee lender compliance, and managing the corporate accounting team.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for final review/changes for management company financials, budgets and analysis
- Produce monthly actual cash flow reports and global weekly reports to monitor cash and LOC demand with borrowing capacity readily available for Weidner
- Review, correct and prepare financial statements in a multi-entity environment (U.S. & Canada)
- Responsible for compiling and uploading budgets for all properties and home office departments into Yardi; provide input when necessary related to budgeting
- Compute team bonuses for on-site employees
- Responsible to compile, review or sign off monthly reporting to each joint venture partner
- Responsible for making sure that all monthly and annual reporting requirements are met on a timely basis
- Monthly filing of WA State Excise Tax (Sales and B&O tax)
- Responsible for annual audit of Canadian operations
- Responsible for any/all US State audit(s)
- Responsible for preparation of tax paperwork
- Responsible for quarterly reporting for all operations, including NOI/CF, and Executive/Field reporting; review compilation process and improve efficiency wherever necessary
- Review financials and loan draws monthly and provide leadership and support to the Construction Accounting Manager and Property Accounting Supervisor(s)
- Responsible for companywide fixed asset policy
- Review on-going acquisitions, disposal and loan refinance JE completed by Sr. or staff accountant
- Support accounting team and VP of Accounting
Qualifications:
- 10 years’ experience in accounting required
- 3 or more years of real estate / property management industry related accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree with Accounting emphasis required
- CPA required
- Solid understanding of accrual vs. cash reporting
- Strong analytical skills and ability to track and analyze various data as needed
- Strong proficiency in Excel and accounting software systems required
- Yardi software experience desired, but not required
- Extremely detailed and accurate at all time
- Able to grasp big picture concepts and eventually understand our business and how all systems and processes relate to each other
- Work well under pressure and deadlines while maintaining perspective and a sense of humor
- Work well will different personalities and team dynamics
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong motivation to learn & contribute on a daily basis
- Able to give professional directions clearly in person, over the phone, email, and text
- Experienced in Microsoft products required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

- Prompt, regular attendance; wear company dress code / uniform & maintain professional appearance at all times
- Work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment and/or independently
- Ability to work outside of normal scheduled hours as needed, and on weekends for planned events
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; detail oriented, well organized
- Must agree to a criminal background check and sign an agreement for voluntary drug testing
- Valid and current driver’s license, vehicle and vehicle insurance
- Ability to work 5 days a week in the Kirkland Home Office
