Medscape, a division of WebMD, develops and hosts physician portals and related mobile applications that make it easier for physicians and healthcare professionals to access clinical reference sources, stay abreast of the latest clinical information, learn about new treatment options, earn continuing medical education credits and communicate with peers.

  • Develop and lead creative vision for Medscape LIVE! video programs
  • Produce & direct documentary style video storytelling including long and short form patient stories
  • Develop partnerships and relationships with high-end production companies
  • Produce and direct content in partnership with production companies both pre/post production; DP’s, photogs, editors, sound, lighting and graphic artists
  • Able to write scripts for a healthcare professional audience
  • Direct professional actors and non-actors
  • Work with senior leadership to promote innovation in the health video space
  • Use sound research techniques to produce content with a high degree of accuracy
  • Must be highly creative storyteller with the ability to make medical topics compelling through use of b-roll and high production values
  • Responsible for developing and delivering against key video engagement metrics and delivering high quality video content in accordance with editorial and best practice policy and standards
  • On-time delivery of standard, custom and interactive video products
  • The ability to meet rapid deadlines and turnarounds
  • Able to travel domestic and abroad 50% of the time to supervise video recordings


  • 4+ years of video storytelling experience for web and/or broadcast (features profiles, long format docu-series required)
  • Extensive video package scripting and research skills for broadcast/video production, especially in medical arena
  • Demonstrated experience in video production and post for the web
  • Thorough understanding of online video products, tools and specifications
  • Familiarity with non-linear editing
  • Microsoft Office and Video Editing software
  • Demonstrated experience producing journalism, multimedia journalism or equivalent
  • Experience working in a fast paced, deadline-driven Web environment
  • Medical/clinical writing and editing experience (a differentiator)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work
  • Detailed oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to work independently with other departments
