About the Role: 

WebMD Health Corp. seeks an experienced PR pro who relishes the opportunity to dive deep into our brands and make meaningful contributions to our business by nurturing and growing WebMD’s strong public profile.

This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who thrives as an individual contributor and is empowered by the ability to own all PR tasks from start to finish. This role requires experience in the healthcare space and involves working with numerous internal and external groups, including corporate peers, agencies, and both consumer and trade media.

The Public Relations Manager is based in WebMD headquarters in NYC and directly reports to the Internet Brands corporate office in Los Angeles.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the organization’s public relations and communications for WebMD and numerous associated brands including Medscape and Medscape Global.
  • Create and manage a yearly PR plan, including budgets, timelines, etc.
  • Sustain high-level brand awareness and help drive traffic across platforms, via strategic media outreach that generates interviews and coverage
  • Develop and implement communications and media relations strategies for launches across the business, thought-leadership, partnerships, and issues management
  • Develop and implement media relations for company events
  • Track all media coverage
  • Strategize and organize press tours
  • Represent the organization at press events, and in media as needed

Qualifications / Skills:

  • 5-8 years progressive experience in PR / corporate communications, ideally with a mix of in-house and agency experience
  • Undergraduate degree in Journalism, Communications, or Public Relations, with graduate experience preferred
  • Experience in healthcare PR and an established understanding of the current health media landscape for health (consumer and trade)
  • Established strong media contacts in consumer health, business, broadcast, and healthcare trade 
  • Strong and versatile writing skills 
  • Experience leading groups of stakeholders across an organization on key communications initiatives
