What are we looking for?

Medscape is building a global network of portals and apps that serve the professional health care community. We have successful products across the US, Latin America and Europe. We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our high performing Product team based in Paris. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • The development of a strategic NLP product.
  • Enhancing our current products/projets in order to help increase engagements on our platforms.
  • Proposing new ideas of AI applications based on WebMD's unique medical database.
What you will do
  • Build Solutions that identify user affinities to support personalization and our data monetization
  • Support the enhancement of NLP applications that allow deep characterization of content aboutness
  • Use text representations to transform natural language into useful features that support user engagement across our platforms
  • Find and implement the right algorithms and tools for NLP tasks
  • Train the developed model and run evaluation experiments
  • Perform statistical analysis of results and refine models
  • Build APIs that can be accessed by our platforms

Who are we looking for

  • 1-2 years of professional experience in Python development.
  • NLP libraries in Python (Spacy / NLTK / Scikit-Learn etc.).
  • Ability to do clean code in Python (class oriented, PEP8, list comprehensions etc.)
  • Knowledge about NLP (stemming, lemmatization, TFIDF etc.)
  • SQL capabilities.
  • Development capabilities (usage of a server, Github).
  • Experience with Deep Learning modelization applied to text (e.g.: Bert / BioBert framework).
  • Knowledge about less classic Machine Learning methodologies of NLP (such as LDA, NMF etc.)
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g.: plotly)
  • Strong appetite for healthcare topics 
  • You are fluent in English and French
  • You are able to work in a multicultural environment, with teams geographically distributed
