We’re seeking a Blog Editor to work on the WebMD and Medscape blogs. This is a management role that will be overseeing a team of associate blog editors. This role will report to the Executive Director, Editorial.  The applicant should be a creative, independent editor with the ability to prioritize and excel in a deadline-driven environment. The applicant should have strong editing skills, strong communications skills, experience working with budgets, and should be comfortable working cross functionally to meet project deadlines.


  • Oversee and be responsible for blog production across WebMD/Medscape
  • Manage the budgets for both the WebMD and Medscape blogs
  • Work closely with the blogs PM to ensure onboarding and payment is consistent
  • Consult with our specialty editors for their expertise, ideas, and blog leads when necessary
  • Manage the team and provide editorial support and guidance
  • Line edit blogs when necessary; grow your team’s editing abilities
  • Work with blog team in aligning their professional development and interests with business needs
  • Ensure that your team finds appropriate patients, experts, and health care workers for blogs and maintains relationships after bloggers are on-boarded
  • Ensure our blogs meet WebMD/Medscape standards
  • Think of new ways/directions this program might grow to benefit the organization 
  • Work with your editors to ensure we’re meeting blog KPIs 
  • Create monthly status reports for management and the whole team to understand how we’re performing against our goals
  • Work with internal stakeholders on blog promotion and programming opportunities
  • Manage multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines


Position Requirements:

  • Four-year college graduate or equivalent relevant (related) experience, degree in journalism or  other related field preferred
  • 7-10  years of editing experience, preferably with a health website
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous management experience
  • Previous budget experience
  • Strong ability to work across teams
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of SEO (search engine optimization) and metadata
  • Comfortable working with a variety of applications
  • Familiarity with content management systems
