Position Overview

The Sr. Health Writer is a versatile writer who can create high-quality, engaging, medically accurate consumer content in a variety of formats for a digital audience. As a senior member of the department’s team of staff writers, this writer will handle high priority, complex, and/or funded assignments and set a departmental quality standard for consumer content development.


  • Write engaging health and medical content for consumer audiences in multiple formats, from quick tips to feature articles.
  • Explain complex scientific topics in a clear and interesting way to deliver accessible information to a variety of visitors
  • Use sound reporting skills to research and deliver medically accurate content from appropriate sources
  • Interview experts and patients to get quotes for featuresCollaborate with stakeholders throughout the organization, including medical reviewers, content editors, social media editors, programmers, and SEO analysts
  • Prioritize multiple projects and meet tight deadlines while ensuring top-notch quality and accuracy


  • 3-5 + years’ experience in creating digital health and medical content for a consumer audience
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related discipline


  • Exceptional and versatile writing ability
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Google Workspace tools
  • Skilled at brainstorming and collaborating with a creative team
  • Comfortable with balancing multiple priorities and projects
  • Positive attitude under pressure and excellent interpersonal team skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate as a cross-functional team member
  • Experience creating engaging digital content and working in a CMS
