Medscape Education is seeking a motivated, adaptable, team-oriented associate medical editor to develop medical education content (CME/CE) published on Medscape.org. What You’ll Do:

 

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of important clinical issues; relevant literature; clinical practice guidelines; approved therapeutic drugs, regimens, and devices; therapeutic pipelines; and faculty in your assigned therapeutic area(s)
  • Quickly acquire up-to-date knowledge of other therapeutic area(s), as needed
  • Collaborate with internal team members and external educational partners to obtain details and direction for new assignments prior to developing content
  • Recruit qualified faculty for assigned projects
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with faculty in assigned therapeutic area(s)
  • Use templates and tools to edit (clinical and line edit) content received from faculty/authors for clarity, medical/scientific accuracy, alignment with learning objectives, product specifications, and consistency with the target learner audience
  • Develop PowerPoint presentations for multimedia programs and figures for text programs
  • Perform fact-checking of your own content
  • Incorporate revisions based on input from cross-functional internal and external teams
  • Write assessment questions that measure educational effectiveness
  • Develop continuing medical education for physicians (CME), nurses (CE), and pharmacists (ACPE) that is clinically-appropriate, instructionally-sound, adherent to industry regulations, and completed within budget and time scale to the highest quality
  • Develop content for WebMD’s patient education activities, including text, graphics, faculty and patient recruitment, video components, and test questions

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • An advanced degree in a medical or science-related specialty (MD, PharmD, RN, NP, PA, PhD) preferred; a Bachelor of Science degree (life sciences, public health, or clinical sciences) with several years’ relevant work experience required
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a medical writer and/or editor for a medical education/communications company, professional medical publisher, or academic institution/hospital/university center, medical society
  • Excellent editorial (editing and writing) skills, preferably in the area of online publishing and text manuscript development; familiarity with AMA style
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills (English; additional languages a plus)
  • Knowledge of ACCME standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills to independently and quickly deal with unforeseen issues to ensure that timelines are consistently met
  • Excellent computer skills that includes working remotely on shared networks and cloud-based systems, and a high degree of proficiency using Microsoft Office suite required; and web-based data and document sharing sites and authoring tools (Accent Library, Read Cube, SharePoint, EndNote, Tableau) a plus
  • Experience with web-based project management tools (such as Workfront, MS Project) a plus
  • High professionalism and easy rapport in building collaborative work relationships
