Lead Designer, UX/Digital

WebMD, the most recognized and trusted brand of health information, is looking for a lead designer to join our team. The Lead Designer will report directly to the Creative Director of the Consumer Design Group and will be responsible for creating visual stories to engage our health audiences—delivering high quality visual design for the WebMD brand. This individual will be responsible for ideating and developing diverse creative executions including UI/UX web experiences and producing cutting edge visual design for custom editorial experiences and site products. The Lead Designer must have an eye for amazing design, will be creative, organized and nimble; working cross-functionally with our development team, product and editorial teams, as well as junior UX and digital designers. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, able to take a project and run with it, who can both think strategically and also roll up their sleeves and flex their design chops. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

UX/UI

  • Skilled at articulating UX concepts from storyboards to design sketching and wireframes to prototyping
  • Execution of and design direction for sold programs, partnering with design and development groups to ensure creative pull through
  • Deep understanding of user experience design as well as ability to communicate proposed technical functionality, acting as an advocate for the experience throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ability to concept and direct user interface design
  • Capable of defining and implementing design guidelines
  • Mastery of best practices for digital content-creation and responsive design
  • Keeps up with design/UX trends
  • Constantly evolving design skills and sensibility

 

Digital Design

  • Stock imagery research
  • Infographic design and development
  • Creative ideation for new ways to visualize concepts, experiences, mocks and new tools
  • Development of video graphics: title cards, lower thirds, end cards, and other supporting visual graphics
  • Creation of dynamic presentations
  • Image compositing for creative concepts
  • Provides digital production oversight for all stages of technical builds
  • Follows trends in graphic design
  • Involvement in creative brainstorms for presales marketing efforts

 

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in UX and/or Digital Design (5-8 years) in a diverse mix of industries
  • Experience working in branded content a plus
  • Proficient technical skills related to design and presentation programs:
    • Mastery of design programs
      • Photoshop
      • Illustrator
      • Sketch, Adobe XD, Invision
    • Strong knowledge of Powerpoint a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with diverse cross-functional teams and on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience and/or interest in supporting new business initiatives
  • Combined UX and/or Graphic Design experience a strong plus
