Medscape, a division of WebMD, develops and hosts physician portals and related mobile applications that make it easier for physicians and healthcare professionals to access clinical reference sources, stay abreast of the latest clinical information, learn about new treatment options, earn continuing medical education credits and communicate with peers.

The applicant should be an organized individual with the ability to prioritize and excel in a deadline-driven environment, detailed, clear and proactive communication skills, demonstrated efficiency in project management and timeline execution, a focus on maintaining the highest quality standards, and customer-service expertise.  The Senior Account Manager role will function as a business leader and mentor, with support from an Associate Account Manager on key accounts. 

Director, Account Management responsibilities include:

  • Direct supervision of a team of Account team leadership (Team Leads, Supervisors, Associate Directors)
  • Training, onboarding, and continuous support for growth and development for direct reports
  • Oversight of account strategy and quality
  • Senior level support for internal and external initiatives
  • Presales support including strategy, timing, and deliverable reviews prior to contracting
  • Responsible for the direction of all business initiatives across assigned verticals
  • Serve as the business lead, helping to triage issues, generate solutions, and provide internal visibility to upper management as needed
  • Strategic sales partner
  • Continuously brainstorm and institute proactive solutions to increase speed to market, expedite revenue delivery, and mitigate potential risks
  • Oversee the implementation of client priorities and expectations with Team Lead, Supervisor, and internal teams
  • Manage and expand client relationships through continual needs assessment and relationship planning activities
  • Define process improvements and work closely with key stakeholders on deal /opportunity support, and client satisfaction

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of client services experience required
  • 8+ years of account management experience desired or other related experience; pharmaceutical or healthcare industry experience preferred
  • 6 years of client facing experience in pharma, medical, healthcare
  • Experience managing and growing a team
  • Passion for customer service and for ensuring our physicians and clients have the best experience possible
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, responsible and result driven, solid communication skills
  • Knowledge of internet and digital production technologies
  • Knowledge of marketing-related creative process (marketing or agency experience preferred, especially within the pharmaceutical industry)
  • Experience with medical/legal review process within pharmaceutical industry strongly desired; equivalent experience in a highly regulated industry may substitute
