About this Job

As a WebMD web developer, you will be responsible for developing and supporting front-end web applications that are accessible, standards compliant and WebMD best practice complaint. This candidate must be able to communicate efficiently and effectively across various teams, quickly adapt to business needs, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The developer will need to be able to work using various technical systems which work together to deliver our content and applications to millions of online users.


  • Create cross-browser, fully functional web pages using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, while strictly adhering to accessibility and W3C web standards
  • Collaborate with developers, project managers, designers, web publishers, producers and back-end engineers to support revenue operations and meet project deadlines
  • Comprehensively troubleshoot and resolve code issues
  • Review new code (self and peer) following WebMD and W3C web standards and strict QA guidelines
  • Support revenue operations through creating / updating site code and configuring content via in-house CMS and build tools

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1+ years of professional work experience (providing HTML/CSS/JS code examples recommended)
  • Experience hand-coding responsive HTML using semantic markup, the latest W3C web standards, and CSS layout / positioning for responsive pages
  • Solid debugging skills
  • Basic understanding of object oriented programming
  • Ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities
  • Ability to work on site, and effectively communicate across various delivery teams
  • Passion for maintaining a high level of code quality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years relevant work experience
  • Ability to interpret and modify basic JavaScript
  • Familiarity with the jQuery library
  • Excellent debugging skills across various languages
  • Knowledge in Node.js and build tools such as Grunt and Gulp
  • Basic knowledge of version control workflow and best practices (git, GitHub)
  • Basic knowledge and real-world experience working with XSL, XSLT, and XML stylesheets
  • Basic knowledge of WCAG/508 compliance and accessibility
