POSITION SUMMARY

Medscape, a division of WebMD, develops and hosts physician portals and related mobile applications that make it easier for physicians and healthcare professionals to access clinical reference sources, stay abreast of the latest clinical information, learn about new treatment options, earn continuing medical education credits and communicate with peers. 

Medscape Editorial is seeking an Editorial Assistant. This is a professional support position within the company that requires varied organizational and administrative tasks.  This includes coordinating the editorial mailer calendar, drafting, sending and tracking author and advisory board contracts and associated paperwork, maintaining files and records, light data entry, and liaising between various departments – Accounts Payable, Human Resources, Legal, as well as Editorial groups served – news, features and reference.  The ideal candidate must be able to multitask, be comfortable working both independently (under minimal supervision), as well as adept to working in a team environment.  Preferably, the candidate will have experience in publishing or a medical science environment, but must have superb written and verbal communication skills.  The ability to work well under pressure in a deadline driven environment is essential.

 MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

This position provides editorial support to ensure efficient and effective execution of projects within agreed priorities, budgets and time scales to the highest quality and with minimal supervision. Specific tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Processing contracts and associated paperwork for Medscape contributors in a timely manner
  • Maintaining a database tracking contracts, bios, and disclosures
  • Assisting with the creation of regular web traffic reports and various analytics
  • Assisting with editorial projects, as needed
  • Providing general administrative/editorial support, as needed, to SVP and other senior editorial staff

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to prioritize and adhere to established timeline
  • Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in group setting
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of Google Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Docs, etc)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Six months or college experience in editorial operations support (print/web)
  • College degree
  • Familiarity with medical terminology; and/or experience in medical publishing/CME environment
