Director of Laboratory Services, Clinical Laboratory - Full-Time
Summary of Duties:
The Director of Laboratory Services is responsible for the administrative and technical operations of the Clinical Laboratory, Blood Bank, and Pathology. This includes the maintenance and/or development of all policies and procedures, quality system control practices in delivering high quality, reliable and accurate test performance, the management and supervision of the laboratory technician, phlebotomy, and clerical staff. This also includes the development and administration of the department budget, the planning and organizing the overall laboratory operations, in line with Washington Hospital goals, mission, and vision, and the maintenance of effective physician and intradepartmental relations.
Required: Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or in the chemical or biological sciences as required by CLIA/FDA. Desired: Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Health, or Hospital Administration.
Licensure/Certification Requirements: Licensure and/or national certification as a Medical Technologist (MT ASCP) or equivalent required. Valid California CLS license highly desired, in order to perform specific job related functions.
Experience Requirements: Eight (8) years of technical experience and three (3) years of managerial/supervisory experience in a high complexity testing laboratory required, with an experience in a union environment with regulatory inspections and surveys. Minimum of five (5) years experience highly desired as a laboratory manager/director role in an acute care hospital, with experience in Joint Commission surveys.
Special Skills or Abilities: Have a strong technical understanding of laboratory operations required, who possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and detail-oriented. Highly motivated person and organized, and must be able to work under pressure and handle difficult situations in a professional manner.
