POSITION SUMMARY

The Lymphedema Therapist II will provide clinical expertise to Lymphedema Therapy Staff. Within the legal scope of practice, will provide professional Lymphedema Services specific to patient's age and diagnosis including evaluation, planning individual patient care programs, treatments, documentation, educating patient and family, conferring with other professional and performing other related duties as required. Will work in a variety of settings including all floors of the acute care hospital and satellite lymphedema clinic. Patients will include inpatient and outpatients. Will participate in Hospital task force quality improvement teams. Will assist department Director with Program development and marketing. Will take an active role inpatient and staff safety planning. If Certified Lymphedema Therapist is a PT Assistant (PTA) they will work under the supervision and direction of a licensed Physical Therapist certified in lymphedema treatment. In addition to performing the essential functions listed below, may also be assigned other duties as required. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Holds appropriate degree or equivalent for clinical specialty area (Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant)
  • Holds current certification from approved schools offering certification courses with at least 140 hours of instruction in lymphedema treatment.
  • Holds, or is eligible for, current California license issued by the State of California in clinical 
    specialty area.
  • Maintains current Basic Life Support Provider Certificate from the American Heart Association.
  • A Physical Therapy Assistant must work under the direction and supervision of a Physical Therapist.
  • Two to three years of clinical experience in a medical setting. Three to five years of experience in lymphedema treatment. Knowledge of the principles and practices of lymphedema treatment.
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective leadership and working relationships.
  • Ability to analyze situations and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to express oneself clearly in speaking and writing.
  • Emotional stability, personal and professional integrity, and interest in knowledge growth and learning.
