Description

This position is a vital part of the construction team which designs, constructs, repairs, and maintains structures using various types of materials and is responsible for the full range of rough and finished skilled carpentry work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, construct, remodel, retrofit and repair interior and exterior structures made of wood, drywall, plaster, concrete or brick
  •  Work with instructions and blueprints from Site Superintendent
  • Utilize chisels, planes saws, drills and sanders to repair and erect structures
  • Join materials with nails, screws, staples or adhesives
  • Work on top of stilts, ladders, and top beams of buildings
  • Check work progress to ensure that it meets quality standards, codes, and specifications
  • Use levels, rules, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure
  • Work with prefabricated buildings
  • Build stairs and other structures
  • Create structures for pouring concrete
  • Erect scaffolding
  • Install partitions, doors, and windows
  • Ensure all safety standards are followed when working on construction job sites

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a carpenter in commercial construction (includes rough and finished carpentry)
  • Red Seal, interprovincial ticket
  • Must be open to performing physical activities (lifting equipment up to 50lbs)
  • Demonstrated ability to safely use manual tools and equipment
