Estimating Richmond, BC


 POSITION SUMMARY:  The Estimator will be responsible for estimating a variety of commercial and light industrial projects with a direct contribution to cost management and budgeting for various high-level projects. 



  • Review and Develop discipline and multi-discipline materials takeoffs (MTO)
  • Evaluate and Develop construction rates, subcontract cost estimates and proposals
  • Perform productivity analysis of cost estimates; perform comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between projects
  • Review designs and specifications for cost-effectiveness; provide recommendations for alternates where applicable
  • Identify scopes of work
  • Contact necessary sub-trades and suppliers for estimates
  • Supply necessary sub-trades and suppliers with required drawings and data
  • Field construction-related questions from sub-trades and suppliers
  • Complete preliminary construction schedules



  • Minimum 3 years of experience in construction and cost estimating
  • Formal education in construction (Diploma/Certificate) is considered an asset; engineering,
  • Quantity Surveying or accounting related degree and/or relevant experience would be an asset
  • Understanding of a construction worksite is considered an asset
  • Ability to document and organize complex streams of information (efficiently, accurately with minimal information, strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills)
  • Clearly communicate estimating concepts to various individuals in the organization
  • Understanding of Building Construction from concept to completion
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills (written, oral, interpersonal)
  • Ability to lead by example and set the standard of professionalism
  • Proficiency with computers (Microsoft Office, Timberline, MS Project, Insite)
