 Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide personal support services to individuals and families in the the Adult Day and Bathing Programs.
All PSWs may be asked to cover Overnight Respite shifts where needed. Hours are subject to changed based upon business needs.

Responsibilities:

The Personal Support Worker is able to follow the framework of VON policies, procedures, standards and quality and risk management. They will collaborate with members of the health care team in meeting the needs of individuals to attain an optimal level of independence and well being.
The PSW will provide support to the Adult Day and Bathing Programs in Oxford county [Woodstock, Ingersoll and/or Tillsonburg] and will assist clients with toileting, bathing, dining, and social recreational opportunities.

Qualification:
  • Personal Support Worker certification is required
  • Registration with the PSW Registry Ontario will be required: http://pswregistry.org/Pages/en/Default.aspx
  • Gentle Persuasive Approaches course completion an asset
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification will be requested
  • Food Handlers' certificate an asset
  • CPI training and experience with responsive behaviours associated with dementia, mental health and addictions an asset
  • 2 to 3 years experience working as a PSW in a similar environment
  • Experience with stroke rehabilitation, range of motion and exercise
  • Must have personal vehicle and possess both a current drivers license and proof of vehicle insurance
  • Current criminal background check will be requested
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Attention to detail; Lift and carry using appropriate lifting techniques; Bend, push, pull, grip, reach, kneel, crouch using good body mechanics; Walk, sit, stand, climb stairs; Hand movements.
