About the Role
Step into a pivotal role as an Accounting Specialist within our dynamic Finance department, reporting directly to the Controller. This position is uniquely positioned at the intersection of precision and process excellence, where day-to-day accounting operations like payroll, AP/AR, and month-end closings meet strategic process improvement and stakeholder collaboration. You’ll be empowered to elevate financial accuracy using tools like Sage, and advanced Excel, while working closely with cross-functional teams to drive insight and trust across the organization.

Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll take ownership of the following key areas:
  • Daily Transaction Management: Record and reconcile financial transactions across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger with impeccable accuracy.
  • Payroll Administration: Execute bi-monthly payroll, process expense payouts, and prepare payroll journal entries in full compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process invoices, issue payments, reconcile vendor/customer accounts, and manage communications while enforcing strong financial controls.
  • Month-End Closing Support: Assist with closing procedures, prepare reconciliations and journal entries, and support the preparation of financial statements and audit documentation.
  • Reconciliations & Treasury Support: Monitor cash flow, reconcile bank accounts, and assist with treasury-related tasks to ensure liquidity and accuracy.
  • Ad Hoc Analysis & Reporting: Provide financial data and analysis in response to internal stakeholder needs, supporting decision-making with timely and relevant insights.
  • Audit & Compliance Assistance: Prepare documentation, assist with internal and external audit processes, and maintain adherence to accounting policies and ethical standards.

What You Bring
We’re looking for someone who brings some or all of the following:
Required Skills:
  • A Diploma (or equivalent) in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable, or general accounting.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Oracle) and strong Excel skills.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles and practices.
  • Exceptional attention to detail (Level 4 proficiency) to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Strong ethical conduct (Level 4 proficiency), maintaining integrity, confidentiality, and compliance.
  • Practical organizational skills (Level 3 proficiency) to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines (especially during month-end close and audit periods).
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate seamlessly across teams.

Nice to have skills:
  • Experience with bi‑monthly payroll administration (helps with quicker ramp-up).
  • Intermediate financial acumen (Level 3 proficiency) in budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide ad hoc financial analysis to support decision-making.
  • Prior involvement in audit support, whether internal or external.
  • Familiarity with treasury-related tasks, such as cash flow monitoring and bank reconciliations.
  • Availability to work in the office periodically (e.g., every second Wednesday and during closing or audit cycles), promoting smoother collaboration during critical periods.

Perks & Benefits
In addition to competitive compensation, we offer a range of perks that support your growth, well-being, and day-to-day flexibility. Here’s what you can look forward to:
  • Generous Vacation: Start with 15 days of vacation, pro-rated in your first year based on your start date
  • Personal Time: Take care of what matters with five (5) paid personal days and three (3) unpaid personal days annually
