The Digital Media Planner will be responsible for planning, negotiating and executing digital media strategies, under the direction of the Digital Media Supervisor. The Media Planner will be able to manage daily planning and analysis, while maintaining strong relationships with internal teams, publishers and partner agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Attend project kick-off meetings with senior creative team members, account, strategy, and project management, serving as an expert on the client brand, creative strategy and concepting
    • Take notes based on creative brief discussed
    • Ask clarifying questions to understand the assignment and any specific creative requests
    • Confirm role on the project
  • Participate in creative brainstorms
    • Provide input on concepting ideas based on knowledge of current trends, pop culture, and current and past design themes
    • Bring own ideas to meeting and share with team
    • Build upon other participants’ ideas
    • Constructively critique ideas discussed
  • Partner with a copywriter to design and create agreed upon concept per brainstorm meeting
  • Assist in digital media strategy development and execution for CPG client
  • Execute digital media plans; negotiate and purchase media
  • Develop and share POVs on new client opportunities
  • Manage the daily implementation, and optimization of campaign activities
  • Manage campaign authorizations, budgets, reconciliations
  • Act as a liaison between the media and account team to ensure that project milestones, timelines, and deliverables are met
  • Interact daily and maintain rapport with digital media publishers
  • Analyze research data and media/marketing information; shares information with clients
  • Monitor and assess ongoing campaign performance; assist in strategic analysis of campaigns
  • Monitor and track media spend, compare against client budget, and alert team of any discrepancies

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2-4 years of digital media experience in an agency setting; digital, traditional and/or direct response experience
  • Able to communicate clearly, thoroughly, succinctly and in a timely manner both verbally and in writing; follow up on outstanding issues; ask questions
  • Keen attention to detail with strong mathematical and Microsoft Excel skills; able to identify and understand anomalies in large data sets
  • Knowledge of and competence in working with media buying software, DDS preferred
  • Able to build relationships across the team, department, vendors and clients
  • Proactive approach, demonstrated by:
    • Providing regular project timeline and budget updates to team/supervisor
    • Anticipating potential problems and obstacles to project success, communicating concerns and potential solutions with team
    • Developing an understanding of new/emerging media developments and sharing with the broader team internally
    • Able to review results and performance of paid media campaigns based on predetermined success indicators and determine effectiveness
