Oversees the monthly financial cycle of forecasting and reporting revenue, expenses, and billing; preparing financial statements; and providing other financial performance reporting to internal stakeholders. Leads and directs Client Finance teams and the day-to-day operations of the department. Builds and maintains strong relationships with department leaders and businesses by delivering expert counsel, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the client’s business, and achieving financial objectives. Works to ensure adherence to contractual terms and conditions, WPP policies, SOX controls and statutory compliance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage quarterly revenue forecasting for all U.S. clients, including overseeing tracking and reporting
  • Partner with operations, resource management and account to manage agency capacity and labor utilization; analyze and report profitability monthly
  • Monitor client financial performance, identify areas of concern and/or opportunities and partner with senior account leads to address
  • Conduct net working capital reviews and follow up on outstanding client issues on a monthly basis
  • Prepare and review client contracts and scopes of work (SOWs), which may include pricing negotiations with client Procurement and other financial stakeholders; partner with Commercial lead
  • Run year-end client reporting
  • Adhere to, administer, and enforce agency processes and financial policies
  • Ensure all agency systems and procedures are compliant with Sarbanes Oxley
  • Identify and implement ways to improve agency and department processes, increase cost savings and work more efficiently and effectively
  • Lead development and performance management of direct reports through mentorship, coaching and ongoing feedback and identification of learning opportunities

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • 8+ years of relevant experience, at least 3 in a professional services environment; some advertising/marketing agency experience preferred
  • Advanced understanding of financial management principles to ensure decisions are fiscally sound and responsible
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills to build productive and effective working relationships with clients, internal staff, and executive management
  • Strong consultative skills; understands and interprets business needs, develops solutions, and translates business strategy into tactics
  • Analyzes and interprets large sets of data and/or data from multiple sources to arrive at conclusions and deliver appropriate recommendations
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution experience, preferably with procurement departments
  • Successful track record managing multiple projects concurrently; completes multiple tasks and projects within deadlines and constraints
  • Advanced Excel skills including the ability to complete key financial formulas, pivot tables, and to use charts/graphs to visualize financial performance
  • Proactive approach, demonstrated by:
    • Providing regular and thorough project updates to team members
    • Anticipating potential problems or obstacles, communicating concerns and solutions
    • Keeping abreast of current trends, technologies and requirements and sharing out information
