Position at VMLY&R

In the VMLY&R Health Practice, we create connected health experiences. We resist the usual ways of seeing, doing and thinking — by harnessing creativity, technology and science to reimagine the entire connected health experience. Our goal? To create work that becomes part of people’s lives, to drive value for our clients and, in the best of cases, to improve health outcomes and impact the world.

The Medical Editor is an integral member of the Medical & Scientific group, ensuring the editorial accuracy and integrity of deliverables to clients. As Medical Editor, you will support the medical and creative teams as they shepherd content from conception through production, review, revision, and final submission.

You will primarily be responsible for providing editorial services, including copy editing, proofreading, and fact-checking, to help prepare materials for pharma and biotech clients. This role provides quality control for the Agency and therefore is crucial to the successful execution of projects, ensuring that every project is accurate, free of typos and grammatical errors/inconsistencies, reads well, maintains consistent tone and formatting, and adheres to all applicable guidelines. You liaise with all members of our cross-functional teams, supervises the work of independent contractors, and provides support to Medical Production Editors in the submission of materials into our clients’ medical/legal/regulatory (MLR) review systems. It is expected that you will be capable of consistently delivering high-quality products on time and within budget.  You will review abstracts, posters, manuscripts and PowerPoint presentations at every stage of development—from outline to proofs.

You have a passion for language, communicating ideas in a clear and concise manner. You have a strong editorial point of view—you know the rules of writing and how to make a written piece stronger through editing. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and will embrace a collaborative and team-based approach to work. You are also able to work independently. You understand science and/or are interested in medicine and science enough to read about it all day and can pivot quickly from project to project.
