Description

Position at VMLY&R

In the VMLY&R Health Practice, we create connected health experiences. We resist the usual ways of seeing, doing and thinking — by harnessing creativity, technology and science to reimagine the entire connected health experience. Our goal? To create work that becomes part of people’s lives, to drive value for our clients and, in the best of cases, to improve health outcomes and impact the world.

The Scientific Associate is responsible for providing scientific and strategic contributions to the development of all types of scientific communications materials related to our clients’ brands and therapeutic areas.  Our team relies on the scientific staff, including the Scientific Associate to research, write, develop, and deliver, within budget and on time, strategically, medically and scientifically accurate educational materials for target healthcare audiences.

Responsibilities

Developing outlines for highly scientific content, with attention paid to factual accuracy, grammar, and style
Writing materials such as slide decks (both disease state- and product- specific), scientific digital and print deliverables, and supporting publications, including abstracts, posters and manuscripts
Developing on-strategy content for advisory board meetings (agendas, discussion guides, slide content, post-meeting executive summaries)
Referencing all developed content from peer-reviewed, published material or client provided data. This includes highlighting the supporting statements according to client guidelines, when required
Staying up-to-date on current research and developments that are pertinent to our clients’ categories and brands
Contributing to new business development efforts (eg, answering requests for proposal, backgrounding teams on diseases and treatment landscapes, attending pitches, on occasion)
Meeting with clients and health care practitioner experts as necessary during the development and review of materials
Traveling onsite to client meetings and conferences
Producing and delivering work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
Working effectively in a team-based setting

 Requirements
Advanced science degree (ie, PhD, PharmD, MD)
Proficiency with PowerPoint and Microsoft Word
Prior experience in scientific communications is a plus but not required

Competencies
Strong attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to operate under tight deadlines and deliver work of the highest quality
Strong ability to communicate with clients and Internal team members, to ensure that project goals are understood and met
Ability to work effectively within a team environment
Proactive, adaptable, and flexible
Ability to manage deadline-driven workload

What will help you determine if this career is right for you:
You have a passion for communicating about science and have a science background that has trained you to learn new therapeutic areas quickly. You enjoy thinking about creative ways to communicate data and disease state concepts and find it interesting when you can think about data in different ways. A strong desire to jump in and learn on the job is critical, as this is a collaborative and team-based environment. You have the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment where collaboration amongst not only other scientists, but also client engagement team members, strategists, and clients is common and is a key to success.

VMLY&R is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
