As a Group Director, Experience Strategy, you will serve as the Experience Strategy lead for client teams. Working directly with clients and leading Strategists to turn knowledge of consumer and data-driven insights into impactful execution across the digital and customer experience ecosystem. Group Directors are senior leadership within the department and operate independently, leading cross-functional CX teams of experience strategists and designers to help drive projects from strategy into sustained action.

With a solid understanding of the world and business needs, Group Director, Experience Strategy will lead the execution of a human-centered approach to translating human empathy into meaningful and impactful experiences.

We work to anticipate emerging opportunities at the intersection of people, culture, technology and business - identifying where to play and how to win for our clients. You will be expected to lead by understanding the root of client business challenges, framing problems in unexpected ways, and providing clarity through inspiration and thought and team leadership.

Experience Strategy is core to the VMLY&R Customer Experience (CX) practice, providing leadership across growth strategy, customer experience, product management, digital strategy, business design and innovation.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience leading high-stakes engagements with clients or within the walls of a growing business
  • Is grounded in human-centered design and design thinking
  • Has a wide span of knowledge and experience across Web, Digital, CRM, Mobile, SEO, Commerce, and Analytics
  • Understands the relationship and interaction between consumer touchpoints within an ecosystem and can define the role of channels to deliver on key objectives
  • Experience working with Designers, Technologists and Program Managers to translate an end-to-end consumer journey into business requirements & actionable steps
  • Can deep dive into data and user analytics to understand behavior & results and develop actionable recommendations
  • Proactively partners with business leads to uncover new opportunities with existing clients and deepening trusted client relationships
  • Is a professional communicator with experience engaging and working with Executives, both in formal workshops and through informal discussions

Responsibilities

  • Structure and lead multiple parallel clients and workstreams
  • Lead and manage the cross-functional team in partnership with clients
  • Cultivate a deep understanding of the intersection of customer motivations and business needs
  • Direct and own client deliverables
  • Execute environment and trends analysis, translating insights into client-specific “so-what’s”
  • Design the business rationale for CX efforts and architect the roadmap to ensure strategy connects to action
  • Be a thinker and a doer. An innovator and a visionary. A structured advisor (internal and external) with a creative imagination
  • Grow the VMLY&R Experience Strategy and CX footprint through thought leadership and IP development
  • Participate in new business development with a cross-functional leadership team by representing the VMLY&R CX practice and how we integrate with Brand Experience to innovate for our clients

Required Skills

  • Excels at engaging clients and diagnosing the root of the business challenge
  • Breadth of knowledge and demonstrated experience across digital tools and touchpoints, including: web, CRM, Mobile, SEO, Commerce, and Analytics
  • Preferred experience with product design and product management
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment; strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills, and a superior critical thinker, with a defendable opinion
  • Proven ability to synthesize a range of qual and quant information to formulate valuable observations, actionable insights and summarize through implications and opportunities
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with, influence and, at times, lead cross-functional teams, internal and external
  • A demonstrated passion, familiarity, and curiosity with design thinking and/or other structured approaches and methodologies
  • Strong leadership and communication, internally and externally

Required Experience

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, MBA and/or continuing education preferred
  • Multidisciplinary background, including developing business strategy, marketing strategy, product management, consumer insights, and/or data analytics
•          12+ years of growth strategy, marketing, and/or product management                experience
