The Senior Manager, Communications, sits within the VMLY&R US Communications team and is responsible for the communications culture within designated offices, working closely with the Director, Communications, North America and office leadership.

You will demonstrate a passion for the agency at large, our mission and goals, our office(s) and will come to work each day focused on building connectivity and culture. In this role, you will oversee key communication and events in the office(s) and support the larger US and global comms team, as well as special, ad-hoc projects.

Responsibilities

  • Execute projects on time and proactively inform director on status, as well as preparing team to present to C-level stakeholders
  • Identifies new and inventive ways to contribute to the agency, the culture and the team, being proactive in new ideas and thoughts
  • Financial management responsibilities include reviewing time and expenses incurred for projects managed, and helping establish an annual budget as needed

Local

  • Curates and leads internal cultural events, such as weekly meetings, quarterly showcases, local annual meeting, parties, etc.
  • Coordinate overall calendar of events for designated offices
  • Works with the local office Culture Council to participate in workshops, bring to life exciting in-office activations that foster connections, and measure effectiveness
  • Responsible for owning end-to-end execution of, including logistical coordination, contract negotiation, vendor and catering management, venue sourcing, branded asset production, budget tracking, event planning and production, and on-site execution
  • Coordinate with key industry partners (g.Ad Club) on initiatives and member participation
  • Supports the DEI and HR on all local activations
  • Partner with VMLY&R Foundation leads to drive participation across our Foundation financial participation, community involvement and pro-bono efforts
  • Intake and support additional client and partner events and major agency initiatives as they arise
  • Manage local employee newsletter and internal communication channels, ad-hoc emails and Intranet, to drive awareness of upcoming activities
  • Create brief and download the project management and creative teams, and other content teams, on any necessary creative support/creation of assets
  • Book production support and catalogue photography and/or video from all events
  • Ensure office specific activities are captured and well-represented within VMLY&R internally and externally
  • Participate in weekly US communications team update sessions
  • Organizes and creates management system for internal marketing material and branded swag items

Regional/US

  • Support any US-wide events such as conferences or agency-wide meetings, such as Family Reunion

Global

  • Supporting the Global Intranet, Amp, by managing the local section
  • Support any Amp strategy updates
  • Support any global comms events such as the Global Annual Meeting
  • Support global initiatives like the Sister City Swap

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (marketing, business, communications)
  • VMLY&R or other agency and/or client-side experience managing large scale interactive marketing events and campaigns
  • Top-notch written and verbal communication
  • Event management experience and project management skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the digital industry, emerging trends, and innovation
  • Familiarity with internal marketing systems and/or advertising agencies a plus
  • People leadership experience
  • High motivated person who embodies our values & champions culture
  • Hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves mentality
  • Work effectively with a variety of internal disciplines and teams
  • Detail-oriented with strong interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills, and highly organized
  • Ability to multi-task and independently manage priorities/multiple projects

  • Lead cross-functional teams and navigate cross-agency collaboration
  • Manages up and knows when to escalate internal and/or client concerns
