Finance Intern

VitalSource®, is hiring a Finance Intern to contribute to our Finance team located in Raleigh, North Carolina. Applicants must reside within a commutable distance to Raleigh as there is a hybrid expectation for this opening. The role includes at least two in-office days per week, with the remaining days worked remotely.
The Finance Intern will play a key role in supporting the Finance team by assisting with analysis, reporting, and data validation to ensure billing accuracy and integrity. This role will involve reviewing transaction data, identifying variances, preparing summary reports, and collaborating with team members to resolve discrepancies. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with large data sets in Excel or similar tools. This internship offers hands-on experience in financial operations and exposure to the processes that ensure accurate and efficient billing practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with data analysis to monitor billing accuracy and support financial operations for Equitable Access SaaS programs.
- Review transaction-level billing data to identify errors, discrepancies, or variances, and collaborate with team members to address issues.
- Support the review of invoices for accuracy, completeness, and timely issuance.
- Prepare and maintain reports to track billing performance metrics and key trends.
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses to support billing accuracy, operational efficiency, and financial decision-making.
- Gather and organize data from multiple sources to support billing-related investigations or process improvement initiatives.
- Assist in documenting billing processes, controls, and best practices for team reference.
- Work with cross-functional partners (e.g., operations, customer service, product) to investigate and resolve billing-related questions or exceptions.
- Provide support on special projects, including data clean-up, reporting automation, and workflow optimization.
- Participate in team meetings and present findings or recommendations in a clear, concise manner.
Required Qualifications:
- Upperclassman or enrolled in a MBA with a concentration in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, or related field.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in Excel; familiarity with data visualization tools a plus.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to identify and correct data inconsistencies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated interest in SaaS, billing operations, or financial analysis preferred.

Compensation Range: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour
