Visionist is looking for a Software Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team on a new government contract award supporting research and development in emerging communications technologies and devices. This exciting opportunity involves partnering across private industry, academia, and government to explore the study of advanced telecommunications systems. The work includes researching network infrastructure (management systems, switches, routers) and edge devices to best leverage emerging technologies in these systems while maintaining high reliability and security. Engineers will have the opportunity to be hands on with a variety of communications hardware from set up/configuration to analysis of network traffic and vulnerability assessment. On this forward-facing program you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with the customer to develop and execute advanced research plans which may range from a few months to a few years in duration.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and enhance complex and diverse software systems related to connected and wireless technologies
  • Develop analytics, novel algorithms, tools to manipulate large data sets, and real-time systems and business management information systems
  • Work with government labs, operational mission, and research engineers to implement requirements relevant to specific technology applications
  • Provide specific input to the system requirements and design to include hardware/software trade-offs, reuse and COTS vs. new development resulting from research and analysis
  • Develop embedded software tools and capabilities using technologies researched to further explore application of technologies, including the development of simple data queries to existing or proposed databases or data repositories
  • Review and test software components for adherence to the design requirements

Requirements:

  • 7 years of experience developing complex software systems
  • Experience with full life cycle development including design, debug, modifications, integration and system documentation.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred. 4 years of additional experience may substitute for a degree.
