Visionist has an exciting new opportunity for a Lead Systems Administrator. Lead the transition of a prototype large language model (LLM) framework into production for thousands of users. As the lead system administrator, you will architect the infrastructure required to support a premier, enterprise-level frontier LLM, used by developers, analysts, and leadership at a critical defense organization. In this role, you will design and implement the infrastructure and supporting applications using AWS services. You’ll be responsible for managing data flow, large-scale data storage and retrieval, elastic load balancing, and system metrics collection—ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability as the system moves to production.

- Design and estimate the infrastructure required to deploy the current LLM prototype and future versions on AWS
- Implement and maintain the infrastructure according to the approved design
- Support the development team through both development and deployment phases
- Ensure infrastructure meets security and compliance requirements to maintain system trust

Requirements for your new career…
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline
- 14 years of experience in systems administration
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer (or comparable certification)
- Experience standing up and maintaining a Kubernetes stack
- Experience working through compliance certification for medium to large systems
- Extensive experience with IT automation tools (Puppet, Ansible)
- Experience leveraging infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Experience leveraging AWS services for load balancing, CI/CD, and orchestration
- Experience standing up and leveraging system monitoring tools (Prometheus, ELK)
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins

Salary range: $175,000 - $211,000
