Sales Business Developer

 

The Business Developer plays a critical role in the development and advancement of Victaulic solutions in a specific region. Key objectives are centered on driving specification standing based on the market box strategy, gathering project information, and details on a project’s scope of work and its opportunity for Victaulic. The BD embodies the Victaulic sales Culture Code and influences specifications through building demand for our value propositions with owners and engineers.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Leading Account Development

 

  • Successful account development efforts by:
    • Maintaining ownership of strategic owner, engineers, general contractors, and architect accounts
    • Building and implementing a strategic account development plan, mapping the account by current level of penetration and tracking progress to desired future state
      • Regular communication of such to key internal stakeholders
    • Leveraging Salesforce and Communicating Early and Effectively with all relevant stakeholders
    • Raising awareness, adoption of and preference for Victaulic’s full range of solutions to both new and existing customers. This will involve conducting regular customer and site visits, as well as developing small discussion groups with owners, developers, and engineers
      • Key deliverable: Development of Owner’s Statement of Requirements, Engineering Firm’s Master Specification, and Project-Specific Specification
    • Actively building meaningful relationships inside and outside of the organization up to the executive level.
    • Capturing new construction project opportunities by identifying scope, schedule, and influences. This critical information and project development must be communicated to the appropriate commercial teams who drive the execution of the pre-bid, bid, and construction phase of the project lifecycle

 

Leading Sales Project Management

 

  • Successful sales project management efforts to achieve revenue targets by:
    • Establishing and driving a standard work process that provides clarity of responsibility, alignment of priorities, and accountability of individual actions and commitments within the team in the region of responsibility
    • Ensure the team is properly utilizing salesforce to capture, share, and act on project information
    • Leading the successful development of acceptance and adoption of specific Victaulic value propositions, services, and products at the Owner and Engineer level.
    • Facilitate the handoff process for transferring ownership of key project information to the commercial team

 

Leader in the Industry

 

  • Establish yourself as a credible resource in the construction industry by:
    • Actively participating and taking leadership roles in industry associations and events
    • Continuously advancing your knowledge by remaining current with the latest resources, trends, competitive landscape, company solutions, procedures, and leadership practices

Qualifications (education, experience, personal attributes):

  • Extensive relevant experience within the construction and engineering fields
  • Proven successful track record, including business development, sales, and account management, achieving targets and complex sales driven at the owner, engineering, and developer levels
  • Strong engineering skills in writing and developing design specifications
  • Strong project management skills
  • A self-starter with a hunter mentality who enjoys working in an autonomous leadership role while being a member of a team of highly skilled colleagues 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Professional demeanor and appearance
  • Ability to travel overnight as necessary
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or construction management strongly preferred.  An MBA is considered a plus
