METALLURGIST ENGINEER
The Metallurgist Engineer supervise and manage processes related to the production, processing, and analysis of metals and alloys, ensuring that these processes are efficient, safe, and meet established quality standards, thus contributing to the company's success and growth in the sector. Manage resources.
Responsibilities:
- Daily process walkthroughs, monitoring metal transformation to ensure quality standards are met.
- Perform metallurgical analysis, laboratory testing, and material evaluations to ensure products meet technical and regulatory specifications.
- Production optimization, identifying areas for improvement in existing processes and proposing solutions to increase productivity and reduce waste.
- Regulatory compliance and safety, ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with safety and environmental regulations and meeting quality standards and industry regulations.
- Interdepartmental collaboration, working as a team with other departments such as engineering, maintenance, quality, and production to resolve technical issues and optimize overall operations.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with applicable safety, occupational health, and environmental regulations and standards to achieve regulatory compliance in your area.
- Mentor production, process engineering, quality, and maintenance personnel.
- Assertive communication with Corporate
- Assist in the primary contact for issues related to the metal composition of the casting product.
- Manage and train their resources.
- Documentation and reporting, maintaining accurate records of processes, test results, and analyses, and preparing technical reports and recommendations for management and other teams.
- Analyzing data and results, evaluating the results of metallurgical tests and material analyses performed during the previous week, and making decisions based on these analyses.
- Resolving quality issues, addressing technical problems that arise during the week, proposing solutions, and overseeing their implementation.
- Maintaining records of weekly activities, preparing technical reports, and updating documentation related to processes and projects.
- Diagnosing and resolving technical issues that arise during daily operations, working with multidisciplinary teams as needed.
- Participating in a continuous process improvement program.
- Professional development and training, keeping up to date with technological and regulatory advances in the field of metallurgy through participation in training courses, seminars, and conferences.
- Meetings and Communication: Participate in team meetings, report on project progress, and discuss strategies to improve efficiency and quality.
- Advance assigned specific projects, ensuring that established deadlines and budgets are met.
- Publish a monthly quality report analyzing the results of quality tests performed during the month, including strength, hardness, chemical composition, among others, and assessing compliance with applicable technical specifications and regulations.
- Generate and submit to management a monthly metallurgical analysis report, summarizing the metallurgical analyses performed, including microstructures, heat treatments, and mechanical and physical properties of the processed metals.
- Provide training and coaching reports for staff under your supervision, focused on developing technical skills and meeting training requirements.
Qualifications (education, experience, personal attributes):
- Metallurgical Engineering or similar
- Advanced English (Essential)
- 3 years of experience in a similar position
- Experience:
- Nodular iron manufacturing
- In-process molding
- Induction of furnace refractory maintenance
- Sand molding processes
- Statistical tools
- Continuous improvement methodology, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma
- Data and trend analysis
- Preparation of documentation, procedures, method sheets, and forms
- Geometric and dimensional tolerances
