About the Opportunity

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic veterinarian with at least 4 years' experience who has the passion to practice a high standard of medical care and the drive to perform the highest standards of small animal medicine and surgery. 

As a Head Vet, you will build upon the success of the team and drive the hospital forward through:

  • Providing clinical leadership across the hospitals’ 17 team members, ensuring the provision of best practice patient care
  • Fostering and support the highest quality of teaching and mentoring of hospital staff., with excellent communication and listening skills
  • Working collaborating with the Practice Manager to maintain efficient processes and always be striving to improve the clinic
  • Demonstrating skills such as time management and problem solving with a team focus
  • Working closely with other Head Veterinarians across the group and nurture a culture of collaboration and teamwork.

Our Hospital

Our Vetwest Currambine Hospital comprises 6 Veterinarians and a team of 9 nurses and 2 trainees. Our veterinary team work 8:30am to 7pm weekdays and share a 1 in 3 rotating weekend roster, consisting of Saturday 8:30am to 5pm. We are a multi-vet hospital and there are 3 vets working together on weekdays, a vet who has a special interest in Orthopedics working 3 weekdays and one to two vets on the weekends.

We have a purpose-built clinic with 5 consult rooms, 2 surgical theatres, a dental suite and all the equipment you need including digital radiology, Siemens’ ultrasound, IDEXX in-house Pathology, IM3 dental machine, dental xray machine BM5 patient monitoring system and a doppler blood pressure monitor. We also have a separate dog ward, cat ward, isolation ward and  we do puppy school!
