Our Whitfords hospital is a purpose built, fully-equipped hospital and provides a great working environment which is busy, stimulating and well managed.  The hospital offers:

  • 5 consulting rooms, laboratory, an isolation ward and separate dog and cat wards
  • Well planned treatment room and two surgical theatres
  • Digital Radiology, Ultrasonography, IDEXX in house Pathology, IM3 Dental machine, Dental X-ray,
  • Surgivet and BM5 patient monitoring machines
  • A team of 9 Veterinary nurses
  • 4 experienced Veterinarians
  • Our veterinarian team offers a strong surgical and medical case load


Whitfords is a large hospital with a team of 4 vets and 9 nurses. Due to the large surgical and medical case-load the ideal candidate would be one who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, displays initiative and wants the opportunity to nurse at a higher level, utilising their existing skills as well as learning more. Our vet nurses have a varied role and cover all aspects of veterinary nursing, from surgical nursing, medical nursing, blood sampling and in-house pathology, cannula placement, assisting with dentals and x rays, nurse consults, reception duties and client care. We offer support, training and encourage continuing education.
  
About you

Essential:

  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or the equivalent
  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a veterinary nursing role
  • VSB registration
  • Double vaccinated as of 31/1/22

  
The successful applicant will possess the ability to:

  • Work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
  • Assist with the development of junior nurses and have a passion for training!
  • Remain calm and react quickly in stressful and emergency situations
  • Display a high degree of empathy and understanding towards the needs of the patients, the clients, and the veterinary health care team
