Veterinarian
Description
We are looking for an experienced Full-Time Veterinarian to join our friendly team at Fitzroy Veterinary Hospital. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for high-level patient care, be competent managing everyday GP practice and enjoy building professional relationships.
Fitzroy Vet Hospital is a small animal practice, providing veterinary service at the highest level. With all the usual equipment to support your work, we have also recently opened a separate dental suite. We benefit from a high support staff ratio and a clientele who truly love and value their pets.
Who we are:
- Fitzroy North: sounds cliché but it has a true local neighbourhood feel in a big city. Piedmonte's supermarket across the street is the epicentre of the community and the coffee guy next door genuinely cares how your day is going.
- Clinic space: purpose built, open, spacious, 2 theatres, 4 consulting rooms, large waiting area, separate x-ray and prep rooms, dental suite
- Dedicated clients committed to the health of their animals - mixed profile, generally young professionals - for many of which their pets are their fur babies
- We see a lot of geriatric patients who are "regulars" which provides a rewarding opportunity to bond with both the client and their pet; the client profile means that they are willing to investigate, invest in regular monitoring and manage co-morbidities.
- Team profile: generally young group of nurses led by a very experienced and wonderfully positive head nurse. Permanent vets are easy-going in personality and team players - we have lots of informal catchups to discuss cases and collaborate.
- Access to the Veterinary Training Centre (VetPartners) - this is not taken from study leave allowance; 1 week study leave; regular lunch & learns.
Nitty gritty:
- The usual roster is 38 hours split over 4 days (3x 10 hour, 1x 8 hour)- BUT WE ARE FLEXIBLE
- 3-week rotating roster: surgery 4/12 shifts, 1:3 Saturdays (8 hour day)
- The clinic is open 8-6 weekdays and 9-4 Saturdays
- We try to ensure that the vets leave on time and are not too rushed. Appointments usually 20 min for vaccinations, 30 minutes for problem-based consults. Scheduled path time in the day.
- We have biweekly clinic meetings on Thursdays during which the clinic is closed for 2 hours to go through positives of the week and any concerns that staff members may have.
- Coffee and treats regularly provided!
