Specialist medicine, a highly skilled team, and a role where your surgical skills will truly shine.
About the Clinic
Perth Animal Eye Hospital is the only dedicated ophthalmology referral hospital in Perth, based in the Southern Suburbs. Our hospital is home to a highly experienced team of Specialists, a Registrar, and Residents, all working together in a purpose-built environment equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and surgical equipment. We are passionate about delivering gold-standard ophthalmic care while fostering a supportive, collaborative team culture where learning and development are genuinely prioritised.
About the Role
With increasing demand for specialist-led ophthalmology services, we are looking for a Veterinary Nurse to join our team in a full-time capacity. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced nurse who enjoys surgery, wants to deepen their expertise, and be part of a highly specialised environment.
You’ll be supported by an experienced team who are dedicated to helping you expand your skillset within ophthalmology – no prior specialty experience required, just the right attitude and strong clinical foundation.
What you’ll be doing:
• Supporting specialists across advanced ophthalmic procedures, anaesthesia, and patient care
• Assisting with surgical preparation, monitoring, and post-operative care
• Delivering exceptional patient care and client communication throughout the referral journey
• Supporting general nursing tasks including IV catheter placement, bloods, and patient handling
• Working within a structured weekday roster – no weekend work required
What We’re Looking For
• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent)
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in general practice OR 2+ years in a specialty environment (flexible for the right person)
• Confident across all aspects of veterinary nursing, particularly surgery and anaesthesia
• A genuine passion for learning and developing within a specialist setting
• A positive, team-first attitude and willingness to support others
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to high standards of patient and client care
