Southpaws is seeking experienced and motivated Emergency & Critical Care Veterinarians to join our growing team in Malvern, Melbourne.

Working alongside a highly experienced specialist-led ECC department, you'll be supported by a Criticalist (DACVECC), Senior ECC Clinicians (MANZCVS), dedicated ECC Veterinarians, and an exceptional team of ICU and Emergency Nurses.

Together, we provide outstanding 24/7 emergency and critical care services to patients across Melbourne and beyond.

The Role:

This full-time position offers a rotating roster primarily across evenings and nights, with one-in-three weekends. A 50:50 day and night shift arrangement may be considered for the right candidate.

The Detail:

  • Monthly department meetings to discuss all things ECC as well weekly presentation mornings (with coffee) to foster peer to peer learning on a variety of topics and areas
  • Inter-department collaboration with our specialist lead surgery and anaesthesia departments
  • Clear career progression pathways and ongoing professional development opportunities

About you:

  • You hold a DVM or equivalent veterinary degree
  • Eligible for registration with the Victorian Veterinary Board
  • You have at least 2+ years’ experience working in an Emergency or ICU hospital/department, or 2+ years in General Practice with exposure to on-call or after-hours work.
  • Confidence working across a rotating roster including nights and weekends
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to delivering exceptional patient care
  • Experience with EzyVet and SmartFlow is an advantage, but not essential.
