Practice Manager

Kensington Vet Clinic and Hospital Kensington, VIC Full time RR-10152

Description

Practice Manager | Kensington Vet Clinic & Hospital | Full Time

Lead a close‑knit veterinary team, shape clinic operations, and make a real impact - Monday to Friday.

About the Clinic

Kensington Vet Clinic & Hospital is a well‑established small animal practice serving the Kensington community in Melbourne’s inner north. We’re a tight, collaborative team of 5 veterinarians and 6 nurses, delivering high‑quality general practice care across medicine, surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, and preventative health.

Our clinic is known for its friendly, professional culture, strong client relationships, and a genuine team‑first mindset. We take pride in running a well‑organised, welcoming hospital where both pets and people feel supported.

It is also right next door to some of the best coffee in Melbourne, and they deliver right to the clinic.

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Practice Manager to lead the day‑to‑day operations of our clinic and support our team to do their best work. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll work closely with the Lead Vet and Head Nurse, balancing people leadership, operational excellence, and financial performance.

You will also have a highly experienced and amazing Regional Manager to help you both get settled and to coach and guide you in your career with VetPartners. There will also be a group of Practice Managers from nearby clinics who you can lean on for advice, support and for further market trends and insights.

This will predominantly be a Monday–Friday role, offering stability, autonomy, and the opportunity to truly own your clinic.

What you’ll be doing:
β€’ Leading, coaching, and supporting a team of veterinarians, nurses, and support staff
β€’ Managing clinic operations including rostering, stock control, systems, and compliance
β€’ Overseeing financial performance - budgets, P&L, KPIs, and reporting
β€’ Driving a high standard of client experience and service excellence
β€’ Managing HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and development
β€’ Handling client feedback and complaints with professionalism and care
β€’ Working in partnership with the Lead Vet and Head Nurse to align clinical and operational goals

What We’re Looking For

You’re already working in a Practice Manager or similar leadership role and are ready to take ownership of a busy, well‑run veterinary clinic.

β€’ 1–2 years’ experience in a Practice Manager or comparable role
β€’ Veterinary background required - veterinary nursing background preferred
β€’ Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or strong experience in lieu of formal qualifications
β€’ Confident people leader with a coaching and mentoring approach
β€’ Strong financial acumen, including budgets, KPIs, and business performance
β€’ Experience with HR, recruitment, and performance management
β€’ Excellent client communication and complaints‑handling skills
β€’ Experience with practice management systems (EzyVet)
β€’ Solid understanding of compliance, WHS, and operational best practice
