Description

🐾 Veterinarian Opportunity – Hawthorn Vet (South Australia)

We are looking for a dedicated Veterinarian to join our close-knit and friendly team at Hawthorn Vet!

About Us

Hawthorn Vet is a modern, small animal practice located in Adelaide’s affluent south‑eastern suburbs, just minutes from the CBD.
We pride ourselves on delivering a personalised, high-quality service in a relaxed and supportive environment — offering the capabilities of a larger clinic while maintaining the warmth and feel of a smaller team.
Our collaborative culture is built on support, encouragement, and a good sense of humour, ensuring a positive workplace where everyone enjoys coming to work.
Our facilities include:
  • Digital radiography (including dental x-ray)
  • Ultrasound
  • IDEXX in-house pathology
  • Capability for a wide range of procedures, including orthopaedics (e.g. TPLO) and soft tissue surgery

Why Join Us

At Hawthorn Vet, we are committed to helping you grow professionally while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
We offer:
  • Strong support for continuing professional development (CPD)
  • Access to training and development opportunities through our broader veterinary network
  • A flexible roster tailored to the right candidate
  • A genuinely supportive, collaborative team environment

The Role

This is a varied and engaging role with a mix of clinical responsibilities, including:
  • Consultations
  • Surgery (soft tissue and orthopaedics if desired)
  • Dentistry
  • Diagnostic procedures and imaging
  • Ongoing care of hospitalised patients
Clinic hours:
  • Weekdays: 9:00am – 6:30pm
  • Saturdays: 8:30am – 1:00pm (1 in 4 rotation)
  • No after-hours or on-call work (all emergency cases are referred)
We primarily see dogs and cats, with occasional exotics and local wildlife cases.

What We’re Looking For

  • BVSc (or equivalent) and eligible for registration in South Australia
  • Minimum of 2 years’ practical experience
  • Confidence in managing a mixed medical and surgical caseload
  • Strong commitment to high standards of patient care
  • Ability to manage caseloads independently
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills
