NSVSC is seeking an enthusiastic vet, who has a passion for all things ECC, who is client-focused, practice evidence-based medicine at a high level and enjoy working as part of our multidisciplinary team for a 12-month internship.
About us:
North Shore Veterinary Specialist and Emergency Centre is a purpose-built facility, that provides leading specialist care 24/7, 365 days a year, with specialists in critical care, internal medicine, surgery, oncology, anaesthetics, dermatology, exotics, and progressive general practice.
The fast-paced Emergency and Critical Care department is led by our Criticalist, fully equipped and supported by:
- Experienced ECC nursing and support staff
- Dedicated ICU with cot bed and oxygen cages
- Multiple mechanical ventilators
- Thromboelastography machine
- Thora-Seal capabilities
- In-house blood bank
- Complete in-house laboratory (biochemistry, haematology and blood gas)
- Digital radiology
- Onsite MRI 1.5T Siemens
- Onsite 128 slice CT scanner
- Fluoroscopy
- Endoscopy
- Ultrasonography
- ECG
- Three fully equipped operating theatres
The Opportunity
NSVSC is looking for an enthusiastic Veterinarian with at least one year of experience to join our Emergency and Critical Care team for an internship.
NSVSC is looking for an enthusiastic Veterinarian with at least one year of experience to join our Emergency and Critical Care team for an internship.
This is a unique opportunity for motivated Veterinarians with an interest in pursuing further ECC training or who intend to sit memberships. In this position you will work directly with a Criticalist and be supported to provide care to our most critical patients. You will be guided to perform procedures and work with machines not commonly encountered in general practice.
Through the course of the year, you will have the opportunity to participate in teaching through journal club and intern specific lectures and book club. You will also be supported to sit your memberships (if appropriate) and the RECOVER initiative CPR training.
