We’re now seeking a Full-Time Head Veterinary Nurse to lead our nursing team and help shape the future of our clinic.
About the Role
As Head Vet Nurse, you’ll play a key leadership role while remaining hands-on in clinical care. You’ll be responsible for managing a highly skilled nursing team and acting as the hospital coordinator to ensure each day’s procedures and hospital cases run smoothly.
Our practice manages a high in-house caseload, including surgical and medical cases, so this role suits a confident and experienced nurse who thrives in a busy clinical environment.
You’ll be supported by an engaged veterinary team and management who value collaboration and professional growth.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading, mentoring and supporting our skilled nursing team
Coordinating hospital workflow to ensure the day’s procedures and patient care run efficiently
Acting as the hospital coordinator, overseeing surgical schedules and inpatient management
Maintaining high standards of patient care and hospital protocols
Assisting with training, onboarding and performance development
Working closely with vets and management to foster a positive team culture
About You
You’re a confident, compassionate nurse who enjoys mentoring others, staying organised in a busy environment, and taking ownership of hospital operations.
You’ll bring:
Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent experience)
Minimum 3 years veterinary nursing experience, ideally in a busy small animal practice
Previous leadership or senior nursing experience (highly regarded)
Strong clinical and surgical nursing skills
The ability to coordinate hospital workflow and manage multiple cases
Excellent communication and organisational skills
A positive, team-first attitude
