We are seeking a reliable and experienced Animal Attendant to join our small, fast-paced doggy daycare and cat & dog boarding facility. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is confident handling animals of all sizes and temperaments, has proven hands-on experience with dogs and cats, and thrives working both independently and as part of a close-knit team.

In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the health, safety, comfort, and wellbeing of all animals in our care, while helping maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for pets and their owners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality daily care for dogs and cats, including feeding, fresh water, basic medication administration (when required), and general health and behaviour monitoring

  • Supervise dogs in daycare and boarding environments to ensure safe socialisation, enrichment, and exercise

  • Maintain exceptional hygiene standards by cleaning and sanitising enclosures, play areas, bedding, litter trays, and shared spaces

  • Observe and report any changes in animal health, behaviour, or wellbeing promptly

  • Assist with check-in and check-out processes for boarding animals, providing professional and friendly communication with pet owners

  • Follow individual care plans, feeding routines, and medication instructions accurately and consistently

  • Handle animals safely and confidently, including those that may be nervous, reactive, or high-energy

  • Manage daily responsibilities efficiently and independently, with strong time management and initiative

  • Uphold workplace health and safety standards at all times

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in a dog daycare, boarding kennel, cattery, veterinary clinic, grooming salon, or similar animal care setting

  • Confident and capable handling dogs and cats of varying breeds, sizes, and temperaments

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative without constant supervision

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent observational skills

  • Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks including lifting, cleaning, prolonged standing, and fast-paced work

  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible with availability, including weekends, public holidays, and school holiday periods

  • A genuine passion for animal welfare and care

Desirable Qualifications

  • Certificate II or III in Animal Care, Companion Animal Services, or a related qualification

  • Experience administering animal medications

  • Customer service experience in a client-facing environment
