General Manager - Peninsula Vet Care Emergency & Referral Hospital

We’re seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead our Peninsula Vet Care Emergency & Referral Hospital. Reporting to the Executive Director of Operations, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, fostering a high-performing team culture, and ensuring the delivery of outstanding veterinary services.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Culture & Team Leadership
    Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team, ensuring clear role responsibilities, a harmonious workplace culture, and strong staff engagement and retention.
  • Strategic Leadership & Planning
    Develop and implement site strategy and annual business plans aligned with our mission and values, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Financial Management
    Drive revenue growth while managing expenses within budget. Oversee hospital expenditure, including capital investment proposals and return-on-investment analysis.
  • Operational Oversight
    Manage day-to-day hospital operations, including workflow optimisation, staffing levels, and business functions to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Client Service & Business Development
    Build and maintain strong relationships with referral partners, clinics, and primary care hospitals to support business growth and community engagement.
  • Regulatory Compliance
    Ensure all licenses and regulatory requirements are met, including medicine records and adherence to WH&S and internal policies.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior business management role
  • Qualifications in business management or human resources
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing large teams
  • Expertise in workforce planning, employee relations, and change management
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in budgeting and cost control
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute effective plans
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organised and self-directed with strong time management

Desirable

  • Experience in the veterinary or healthcare industry
  • Knowledge of WH&S policies and regulatory frameworks
  • Background in marketing and business development
  • Familiarity with employee engagement and wellbeing programs
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data to inform decision-making
  • Experience designing scalable, repeatable solutions to operational challenges
