There is the opportunity to travel to do outclinics around Melbourne and Victoria and to attend College Science week held at the beautiful Gold Coast – this year’s theme – Ocular pathology and Ophthalmology Chapter satellite meetings - recent venues have included the Margaret River, Uluru, and Far North Queensland. This year’s speaker for the Satellite meeting will be Prof Gus Aguirre with the meeting to be held on the Coast in Sydney.
Role Essentials:
Comprehensive Care: Utilize your expertise to diagnose, treat, and manage a wide array of ocular conditions in animals, ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
Advanced Surgical Interventions: Perform intricate ophthalmic surgeries. These include eyelid surgeries, nictitans gland prolapse repair, corneal surgery eg superficial keratectomies, corneal sequestrum removals and corneal grafting. Expertise in intraocular surgery is not expected.
Continued Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in veterinary ophthalmology, integrating new techniques and technologies into patient care.
Community Engagement: Play a vital role in educating pet owners and referring veterinarians about ocular health, preventive measures, and the importance of regular eye examinations.
Team Mentorship: Share your knowledge and expertise, mentoring junior staff and fostering an environment of learning and professional growth.
We're Looking For:
A veterinarian with a postgraduate certification in ophthalmology (Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (CertAVP), Graduate Diploma, or equivalent).
Able to be registered as a veterinarian in Victoria.
Demonstrated experience in veterinary ophthalmology, showcasing skill in both clinical and surgical capacities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with pet owners and collaborate with team members.
A commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for advancing the field of veterinary ophthalmology.
