Sylvania Vet Hospital are looking for a Head Vet Nurse to expand our growing, vibrant nursing team. We are large, ASAVA accredited, busy practice with a well-established client base who are as committed to receiving gold-standard veterinary care as we are providing it.

  • Fortnightly team meetings with vets and senior nurses providing training  

Our veterinary nursing team play a key role within our clinic and by supporting our veterinary staff assisting with their consultations, preparing patients for surgeries along with nurse admission and discharges. Our team has a variety of interests including surgery and internal medicine. We have a close relationship with our local referral centres and have regular visiting specialists who provide next level surgical care and diagnostic procedures for our patients. We also have a strong working relationship with local rescue groups.   

Our day is busy with both surgical and reception duties, providing care to patients and advice to our customers. We have a focus on team wellness and mental health support, and we actively work to make sure our team has a work/life balance that suits them. We pride ourselves in having an exceptionally strong team culture and supportive management style. We all join in on fortnightly team meetings where we focus on key areas and training sessions.

What we are looking for:  

  • A keen team-oriented Vet Nurse, willing to work in a fun and supportive workplace  

  • Completion of certificate IV in veterinary Nursing is ideal   

  • Confident in taking bloods, placing intravenous catheters, radiographing patients and anaesthesia monitoring  

  • A Veterinary Nurse committed to providing gold standard care for all our patients  

  • A hardworking Vet Nurse who is happy to take charge, takes initiative and has a love for training junior nurses  

  • Someone who is looking to take the next step in their career or have a fresh start in a team under new management and with new Vets onboard
